Bakamoono Fellowship #BakFellow

3 July 2018 Posted by No Comment

The Grassrooted Trust, supported by British Council Colombo, are offering fellowships for writers, photographers and videographers in Sinhala and Tamil. The aim is to create content that engages with young people in Sri Lanka via the relationship education portal bakamoono.lk. The fellowship seeks to support 32 young people who will in turn support their peers on issues related sex and relationships. It is not so much about penises and vaginae, and what fits in where, but rather and opportunity for young people to display their creativity in engaging with what are hitherto considered sensitive and/or taboo subjects. Nothing will be off limits as this team looks to challenge patriarchal notions that are steeped in the juices of culture, religion, and tradition. Watch the  bakamoono.lk space over the next few months as the #Bakfellows bring their talents to bear on menstruation, virginity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender-based and intimate partner violence, comprehensive sexuality education and more.
